This program is held offsite at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge, 340 Smith Rd, Shirley, NY 11967.

Discover how to turn a simple walk in nature into a gallery of stunning images during our Basic Nature Photography Workshop at Wertheim Wildlife Refuge, where beginners will learn to see the world through a more creative lens—no matter what kind of camera they bring.

This class is designed specifically for beginner and novice photographers who want to sharpen their skills in capturing the beauty of the natural world. Whether you’re using a smartphone, a point-and-shoot, or a DSLR camera, the course offers practical tips to help you take better photos. We’ll cover fundamental photography concepts like depth of field, the rule of thirds, lighting, and composition, while strolling the trails of Wertheim. By the end of the session, participants will walk away with the confidence to start taking more visually compelling photos.
